Cranial Osteopathy

What Is Cranial Osteopathy?

Whilst structural osteopathy uses techniques that are more “physical” – such as directly manipulating joints and the spine, cranial osteopathy is a much more subtle technique. The practitioner places their hands on the body and uses a highly developed sense of touch to bring the body and the nervous system into better alignment and balance.

As with osteopathy, cranial osteopathy is based on the principle that the structure and function of the body are intimately related. If the structure is not balanced and healthy then the function is affected, resulting in any number of symptoms.

Despite the name, cranial osteopathy is not restricted to the head and practitioners will use cranial osteopathy to treat any area of the body.

Babies and young children

Its gentle nature makes cranial osteopathy an ideal treatment for babies and young children. Cranial osteopathy has a generally calming effect, which in turn can help babies and children with a range of other symptoms.

I have a special interest in working with children and young people and many years experience. Please contact me if you would like to discuss how cranial osteopathy might be able to help your baby.
