About

About Me

I was a successful competitive swimmer in my younger days. I needed treatment for various injuries sustained during my swimming career, which sparked an interest in healthcare and the human body.

I gravitated towards osteopathy, with its focus on the musculoskeletal system and drug-free approach. The holistic approach of osteopathy particularly appealed to me, understanding the interdependence of the different systems of the body, and how a problem or imbalance in one area can manifest as a problem somewhere else. This allows osteopaths to diagnose and treat the root of the problem, rather than just the symptoms.

I graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with first class honours in 2004. I entered private practice soon after, and have been running my own osteopathic practice in Esher and latterly Hersham/Walton-On-Thames ever since.

Who I Treat

I treat people of all ages and from all walks of life, for everything from simple problems like pulled muscles and sporting injuries, to more complex problems. This might be anything from chronic lower back or joint pain through to long-standing chronic issues such as fibromyalgia.

I have a special interest in working with babies and children, utilising cranial osteopathy where appropriate. Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, more subtle treatment, which can help to soothe and relax babies and infants.

I also treat many people for problems such as back pain, neck pain and postural issues, often as a result of working from home or poor workstation setup. I can help advise on good postural habits and ergonomics to ensure you stay healthy and pain-free in the future.

My Approach to Healthcare

I am passionate about osteopathy and about the well-being of my patients. I don’t consider drugs to be the best solution to many healthcare issues. As an osteopath I believe that if the body is functioning to the best of its ability then its own in-built healing mechanisms can function effectively promoting long-term health.

I therefore will approach most issues looking for a drug-free solution, addressing any issues which prevent the body from functioning efficiently. I do this through correcting spinal and joint alignment, reducing tension and working with tight or tense muscles to allow the body to function freely. Many problems can be treated in this way, often where drugs are unable to help. This includes not just simple musculoskeletal problems but also issues such as cervicogenic (tension) headaches and stress-related problems.

Of course there are times when further diagnostic tests are required or where osteopathy is not the most appropriate primary treatment for your condition. Osteopaths are trained primary care practitioners and I will not hesitate to refer you to the appropriate service if an initial examination and diagnosis shows that a different treatment or tests may be required.
